NCEPU was founded in 1958 in Beijing under the national power department. Over time it evolved into a major national university. Its main campus sits in Beijing’s Changping district, and it also operates a branch campus in Baoding, Hebei Province.
The university focuses strongly on energy, power engineering, electrical engineering, renewable energy, environmental and mechanical engineering, but also offers courses in management, economics, computer science, humanities and social sciences. NCEPU runs many national-level research projects and maintains research platforms and labs in smart grid, clean energy, power systems and new energy technologies.
For international students, NCEPU offers several English‑taught undergraduate and graduate programmes — including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering, Renewable Energy & Clean Power, Computer Science and more. The university’s International Education Institute (IEI) manages international admissions, cooperative education programmes with foreign universities, language training, and student services.
This combination of strong engineering courses, research activity, global partnerships, and international student support makes NCEPU a well‑suited institution for students interested in power, energy, engineering and related fields.
