Why your IELTS score matters

A strong IELTS band score can increase your chances of getting an offer from your chosen university, support your UK student visa or other study visa application, help with scholarship applications, and give you confidence in lectures, assignments and daily communication abroad.

This page is for students who want clear, practical IELTS preparation, especially those planning to study in the UK and need to meet UKVI IELTS or university language requirements.

Who Is This
IELTS Page For?

You will benefit from BHE UNI IELTS guidance if you aim to study in the UK, Canada, Australia or another English speaking country, need to reach a specific IELTS band (for example 6.0, 6.5 or 7.0), are taking IELTS for the first time and feel unsure where to begin, have already taken IELTS but want to improve your score, or want your IELTS preparation to match university and visa requirements, not just generic tips.

Why Prepare for IELTS with
BHE UNI?

We align IELTS preparation with your study abroad plan

At BHE UNI, we connect your IELTS preparation directly to your target country and city, chosen course and level of study, university admission requirements, and visa and UKVI expectations. Frequently Asked Questions about IELTS

No. BHE UNI does not conduct the IELTS exam and we are not an IELTS test centre. We provide guidance, preparation strategies and counselling to help you perform better in the official test run by authorised centres.

Most UK universities require proof of English language ability, and IELTS Academic is one of the most common tests accepted. Some courses or levels may have alternative options. We help you check the exact requirement for your chosen programme.

The required band score depends on:

  • • The country
  • • The university or college
  • • The level of study
  • • The course you choose

Many undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the UK ask for overall Band 6.0 or 6.5, sometimes higher. We will confirm the specific requirement for you.

  • • Academic is usually needed for university and higher education.
  • • General Training is often used for work, training or migration.

If you plan to study abroad, in most cases you will need IELTS Academic.

In most situations, an IELTS result is valid for two years from the test date.

Yes. We can review your previous result, identify weak areas and design a plan focused on improving your Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking scores, depending on where you need the most improvement.
