A fully funded scholarship for Bangladeshi students can cover tuition and far more: a monthly stipend, accommodation support, health insurance and, in many schemes, return airfare. For 2027 applicants, the useful question is not simply which scholarships exist. It is which ones are open, which fit your study level, and which deadlines are still realistic.
Right now, Chevening 2027/28 is open. Commonwealth Master’s and PhD applications open on 8 September 2026. The Bangladesh MEXT 2027 Embassy Recommendation round has already closed, while GKS, Türkiye Scholarships, Stipendium Hungaricum and the next Chinese Government Scholarship cycle sit at different stages of the calendar.
If you have not chosen a country or degree yet, first map out a wider overseas study route and then shortlist funding that matches it.

The first three rows deserve immediate attention. Chevening is already accepting applications, while Commonwealth has confirmed its 2027/28 dates. Chevening opened on 4 August and closes on 6 October 2026; Commonwealth Master’s opens on 8 September and closes on 20 October.
Best Fully Funded Scholarships for Bangladeshi Students
1. Chevening Scholarship
Chevening funds one-year taught Master’s study in the UK. The award normally covers tuition, a monthly living allowance, economy travel, visa-related costs and several approved allowances.
Applicants need at least 2,800 hours of work experience acquired after completing their undergraduate degree and must commit to returning to their country of award for at least two years after the scholarship. The requirement is not flexible.
Here’s the thing: this makes Chevening a poor fit for a fresh graduate with no qualifying post-degree experience, even if the academic record is excellent.
For experienced applicants, it remains one of the strongest UK routes. You can verify the dates on Chevening's current application timeline, and if Britain is your main destination, compare the main UK funding routes before relying on one award.
2. Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship
Bangladesh is eligible for the Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship. Applications for 2027/28 open on 8 September 2026 and close at 16:00 BST on 20 October 2026.
The current package includes approved tuition fees, return airfare and a living allowance of £1,712 per month, rising to £2,000 per month for scholars at universities in the London metropolitan area. Study-related travel and certain additional allowances may also apply.
Unlike Chevening, Commonwealth Master’s does not use the same universal 2,800-hour work-experience threshold. Academic quality, the proposed course and likely development impact matter heavily.
A concrete example shows the difference. “I want to study public health to help Bangladesh” is vague. An applicant who has worked with maternal-health data in Rangpur, identifies a measurable service gap and connects it to specific Master’s modules gives selectors something they can actually assess.
The full current package and application route are available in the official Commonwealth Master's guidance.
3. Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters
Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters are delivered by university consortia, often across more than one European country. Students apply to the individual programme rather than one central scholarship form.
The EU scholarship can provide €1,400 per month for up to 24 months, while the award also contributes towards participation costs, travel and visa expenses. In most cases, students submit applications between October and January for courses starting the following academic year.
That programme-specific structure matters. A generic motivation letter is rarely enough when one consortium selects for renewable energy and another for migration policy.
You can check the official Erasmus Mundus student guidance. If Europe is still open as a destination, compare funding routes across several European countries before narrowing the list.
4. DAAD EPOS
DAAD EPOS supports selected development-related postgraduate courses in Germany. Applicants normally need at least two years of relevant professional experience, and each participating course sets its own deadline.
Current funding includes €992 per month for graduate students and €1,400 per month for doctoral candidates, plus health, accident and personal-liability insurance and travel support under the programme rules. Some recipients can also qualify for additional rent or family allowances.
A mildly counterintuitive point: the most famous course is not always the strongest scholarship choice. A slightly less prominent programme that closely matches your employment history may produce a more convincing application because the academic and career logic is easier to prove.
Check the current DAAD EPOS funding and eligibility information before choosing a course.
5. Global Korea Scholarship (GKS)
GKS supports international students at undergraduate and postgraduate level in South Korea. Core benefits include tuition, airfare, Korean-language training and study allowances.
For undergraduate study, the official general timetable places the announcement in September, followed by application submission during September and October. The 2026 undergraduate guidelines were published on 5 September 2025; the 2027 notice had not yet appeared by 22 August 2026.
So September is a sensible watch period, not a confirmed 2027 deadline.
Students waiting for the notice should prepare transcripts, citizenship documents and recommendations now. The portal opening is a poor time to discover that an official paper takes several weeks to collect.
The current structure is set out on Study in Korea's GKS scholarship page.
6. MEXT Scholarship
MEXT is a major full free scholarship for Bangladeshi students considering Japan.
Current monthly support is about ¥117,000 for undergraduate students, ¥144,000 for Master’s/professional-degree students and ¥145,000 for doctoral students, alongside tuition exemption and qualifying round-trip airfare.
The timing is the key issue.
The Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh confirms that both the MEXT 2027 Undergraduate Scholarship and 2027 Research Students Scholarship under Embassy Recommendation are now closed.
So a student reading this in August 2026 should not spend time searching for a still-open Embassy application for this cycle.
Use the official MEXT scholarship overview for funding details and the Embassy of Japan's Bangladesh notice for local application status.
7. Chinese Government Scholarship
The Chinese Government Scholarship Type A route supports Bangladeshi applicants at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD level.
The latest Bangladesh announcement included full tuition, on-campus accommodation, medical insurance, international return airfare and approximately CNY 2,500–3,500 per month, depending on programme level. The deadline for that cycle was 10 January 2026.
The next Bangladesh call had not been published by 22 August 2026. Do not turn the previous 10 January deadline into a “confirmed” January 2027 deadline until a new notice appears.
You can monitor the Chinese Embassy's Bangladesh scholarship announcements and compare government and university funding in China while preparing.
8. Türkiye Scholarships
Türkiye Scholarships use a central application system for undergraduate, Master’s and PhD study.
Current monthly stipends are TL 4,500 for undergraduate students, TL 6,500 for Master’s students and TL 9,000 for PhD students. The package also includes university placement, tuition, accommodation, health insurance, a one-year Turkish-language course and flight support at the beginning and end of study.
The main annual application period runs from 10 January to 20 February.
That stable window makes Türkiye easier to plan for than schemes whose deadlines move from one course to another. Have your documents ready before January rather than beginning from zero when the portal opens.
See the official Türkiye Scholarships full-time programme guidance.
9. Stipendium Hungaricum
Stipendium Hungaricum supports undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral study in Hungary.
Bachelor’s and Master’s recipients currently receive HUF 43,700 per month, plus either a dormitory place or HUF 40,000 per month towards accommodation and medical cover.
Doctoral support is HUF 140,000 per month during the first phase and HUF 180,000 per month during the second. The programme itself warns that the housing contribution may not cover full private rent, especially in larger cities.
That warning is useful. “Fully funded” can still leave a personal spending gap.
The 2026/27 deadline was 15 January 2026, and that application period has ended.
Check the current Stipendium Hungaricum application guidance before planning the next cycle.
10. Australia Awards Bangladesh
Australia Awards Bangladesh currently focuses its long-term scholarships on postgraduate study linked to Bangladesh’s development priorities.
For study commencing in 2027, applications opened on 1 February 2026 and closed on 30 April 2026.
The Bangladesh site now states that applications are closed and will reopen in early 2027. Those are two different things: the reopening refers to a later application round; it does not mean the 2027 study intake is still open.
Australia Awards generally covers full tuition, return airfare, an establishment allowance, contribution to living expenses and Overseas Student Health Cover.
Monitor Australia Awards Bangladesh's current application status rather than relying on an old intake date.
Undergraduate Full Free Scholarship for Bangladeshi Students After HSC
An undergraduate full free scholarship for Bangladeshi students is realistic, although the list is shorter than it is for postgraduate applicants.
The main routes to monitor are GKS, MEXT, the Chinese Government Scholarship, Türkiye Scholarships, Stipendium Hungaricum and eligible ICCR schemes.
For someone looking for a full free scholarship for Bangladeshi students after HSC, timing differs sharply by programme. MEXT’s Bangladesh 2027 Embassy round has already closed, GKS is approaching its usual undergraduate announcement period, and Türkiye normally accepts applications from 10 January to 20 February.
The fully funded undergraduate scholarship for Bangladeshi students with the largest headline stipend is not automatically the best choice. Subject availability, language expectations, selection tests and the route from HSC or A-level qualifications into university matter just as much.
Fully Funded Master's Scholarship for Bangladeshi Students
A fully funded Master's scholarship for Bangladeshi students offers more viable routes than undergraduate funding.
Chevening, Commonwealth Master’s, Erasmus Mundus and DAAD EPOS are the obvious starting points. Fulbright, Türkiye Scholarships, Stipendium Hungaricum and the Chinese Government Scholarship widen the field.
Match the scholarship to your evidence. A professional with two or three years of relevant work may fit Chevening or DAAD better than a fresh graduate. A strong recent graduate may find Erasmus Mundus more realistic. Development-focused professionals should look closely at Commonwealth and Australia Awards requirements.
If North America remains an option, review US-based funding routes rather than forcing a UK or European award to fit your profile.
PhD Scholarship for Bangladeshi Students
A PhD scholarship for Bangladeshi students can come from a named government scheme or directly from a university, research group or funded project.
Commonwealth PhD, MEXT, DAAD and the Chinese Government Scholarship are major routes. But funded studentships, research assistantships, teaching assistantships and grant-linked doctoral vacancies can be equally valuable.
Research fit often beats a broad scholarship pitch.
A candidate who refers to a supervisor’s recent work, identifies a related research problem and explains how previous methods experience connects to the project gives the academic a reason to reply. A generic email sent to 40 professors usually looks exactly like one.
Commonwealth PhD applications for 2027/28 open on 8 September 2026 and close on 20 October 2026.
Government Scholarship for Bangladeshi Students
A government scholarship for Bangladeshi students may come from the UK, United States, Germany, Japan, South Korea, China, Türkiye, Hungary, Australia or India.
The selection models differ. Chevening rewards leadership and career direction; DAAD EPOS expects relevant professional experience; MEXT uses formal academic screening and examinations; Commonwealth places strong weight on academic merit and development impact.
Think about it this way: the best scholarship is not the one with the highest stipend.
It is the one whose selection model matches the strongest evidence in your profile.
Can Bangladeshi Students Get a Full Free Scholarship Without IELTS?
The short answer is sometimes.
But “without IELTS” rarely means “without any proof of English”.
A full free scholarship for Bangladeshi undergraduate students without IELTS may still require the applicant to satisfy a university’s English-language rule through TOEFL, PTE Academic, another approved test, a medium-of-instruction document, an interview or previous English-medium study.
Scholarship rules and university admission rules are separate. Check both.
An aggregator calling an award “IELTS-free” cannot override the institution that will issue your admission offer.
What Does a Fully Funded Scholarship Cover?
The fully funded scholarship meaning is simple in principle: the award covers most or all major study costs.
That normally means tuition plus a living allowance. Many schemes also include health insurance and international travel, while accommodation, visa costs, settlement support, language training or research expenses may come on top.
Yet fully funded does not always mean zero upfront spending.
For a Bangladeshi applicant, the British Council currently lists IELTS Academic at BDT 29,600 on its booking page. A regular 48-page, five-year Bangladesh e-passport costs BDT 4,025, while the Police Clearance Certificate fee is BDT 1,500 before applicable online service charges. Together, those three published costs equal BDT 35,125.
You can verify the current prices through the British Council IELTS booking page, Bangladesh e-passport fee schedule and Bangladesh Police Clearance portal before paying.
Translations, medicals, test retakes and document certification can increase the total. Build a small buffer; this is where a separate pre-departure funding plan becomes useful.

Eligibility and Documents
There is no universal CGPA, IELTS score or work-experience rule for a fully funded scholarship for Bangladeshi students.
Most selectors look at a combination of academic performance, course fit, English-language evidence, professional or research experience, references and the quality of the applicant’s future plan. Some government programmes add age limits, nomination stages, nationality restrictions or return-home conditions.
Prepare the slow documents early: passport, certificates, transcripts, certified translations where required, CV, language evidence, recommendation letters and employment records. PhD applicants may also need a research proposal, while police clearance and medical forms often appear later.
One practical rule helps: keep a master folder, not a master application.
Reuse your evidence, but tailor the argument. A Chevening leadership answer should not become an Erasmus motivation letter with the scholarship name swapped.

A small observation from real application cycles: applicants often over-invest in the essay and under-invest in logistics. A strong statement cannot rescue an application if the transcript, referee or certified document misses the deadline.
Start the slow documents first.

How to Apply from Bangladesh
Start with the official scholarship page, not an agent or an old deadline table.
Confirm five things first: study level, Bangladesh eligibility, funding, deadline and application route. Then shortlist courses, collect documents, line up referees and write the application around evidence rather than adjectives.
If you need the process in more detail, follow a step-by-step scholarship preparation approach. Keeping the detailed application process there also stops this comparison page from competing with a second page for the same “how to get a scholarship” intent.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which country offers the best fully funded scholarship for Bangladeshi students?
There is no single best country. The UK offers Chevening and Commonwealth, Europe offers Erasmus Mundus, DAAD and Stipendium Hungaricum, while Japan, South Korea, China and Türkiye have strong government-funded routes.
Choose according to study level, subject, experience and selection fit.
Can Bangladeshi students get fully funded undergraduate scholarships?
Yes. GKS, MEXT, the Chinese Government Scholarship, Türkiye Scholarships and Stipendium Hungaricum are among the main options.
Check the current application cycle carefully because some 2027 deadlines, including the Bangladesh MEXT Embassy Recommendation round, have already passed.
Which full free scholarships are available after HSC?
HSC and A-level graduates can consider GKS Undergraduate, the appropriate MEXT cycle, Türkiye Scholarships, Stipendium Hungaricum, the Chinese Government Scholarship and eligible ICCR routes.
What CGPA is required for a fully funded scholarship?
There is no universal CGPA.
Each scholarship sets its own threshold and may also assess professional experience, leadership, research potential, course fit or development impact.
Can I apply without IELTS?
Possibly.
Some scholarships do not impose their own IELTS requirement, while some universities accept another approved form of English-language evidence. Check the scholarship and course requirements separately.
Does a fully funded scholarship cover airfare?
Many major awards do, including Chevening, Commonwealth, MEXT, Australia Awards and the Bangladesh Type A Chinese Government Scholarship.
University-specific awards can have narrower packages.
Is Chevening open for Bangladeshi students now?
Yes. Chevening 2027/28 is open and closes on 6 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC.
When does Commonwealth Scholarship 2027 open?
Commonwealth Master’s and Commonwealth PhD applications for the 2027/28 academic year open on 8 September 2026 and close on 20 October 2026.
Choose the Scholarship That Fits, Then Move Early
The strongest fully funded scholarships for Bangladeshi students are not all open at the same time, and they do not reward the same profile. That is why a current status table and a realistic fit check matter more than a very long list.
Shortlist the awards that match your level. Verify the latest deadline on the official source. Prepare documents before the portal opens.
You can compare broader scholarship destinations and funding routes or discuss course and eligibility options before committing to an application.
For Bangladeshi applicants, timing is now part of eligibility in practice. A perfect application submitted after the deadline is still a failed application.
