Yangzhou Polytechnic Institute (YPI) was formed in July 2004 by combining several earlier technical schools, including Yangzhou Chemical School (founded in 1978) and Yangzhou Construction Engineering School (founded in 1981), under approval of the Jiangsu Provincial Government. The institution became a provincial public vocational and technical college serving the Yangzhou region with specialized training in engineering and applied fields. It has developed into a major vocational education hub with multiple academic departments and cooperative programs with universities and industry partners. Over the years, it has expanded its academic offerings, facilities, and international links, building partnerships with more than 100 universities and research institutions globally. YPI has introduced international curricula, exchange programs, and training opportunities for students, and has established practice and training bases that support hands‑on skill development.
