Jiangsu University (JSU) traces its roots back to 1902 when Sanjiang Normal School was founded.  Over the decades, it underwent a series of transformations—including the merging of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Zhenjiang Medical College and Zhenjiang Teachers’ College in 2001—to become the current comprehensive university.  The university has grown steadily in student numbers, academic breadth and research capacity. It has won recognition as a key institution, been authorised to grant masters and doctoral degrees early on and developed strong engineering and agricultural disciplines.  The institution continues to engage globally, welcoming international students and forging cooperative programmes with universities abroad.

Students choose JSU because the university offers a wide range of academic programmes, modern facilities and supportive services for international students in an English-friendly environment. With strong engineering, agriculture and science sectors, as well as many programmes offered in English, it gives students access to quality education in a Chinese context with global exposure. Support services include orientation, visa assistance and on-campus accommodation, all of which make the transition easier for students coming from abroad.

Student Accommodation

On-campus accommodation is provided in apartment-style buildings for international and domestic students. Rooms are typically double-bed rooms equipped with air-conditioning, internet, private bathroom and other amenities. The fee for long-term accommodation is around CNY 4,300 to 4,900 per bed per academic year for international students.

Off-Campus Student Accommodations

While JSU encourages international students to live on campus, off-campus housing in Zhenjiang city is available nearby. Such options offer more independence and can vary in cost and amenities. Students opting for off-campus residence should check the university’s approval process and local housing regulations.
