MSc Systems Engineering Apprenticeship

Course Overview

The Centre for Systems Engineering has been at the forefront of developing systems engineering education for the past fifteen years, blending the breadth of systems thinking with the rigor of systems engineering and closely integrating this within acquisition management.

The course has been set up to give students a better understanding to focus content and delivery on systems engineering professionals working in distributed, agile teams using shared models and flexible working approaches, emphasizing professional skills such as leadership, team working, communication, data management, and ethics.

The MSc in Systems Engineering is designed for those seeking Professional status in their chosen career. A PgDip (two years) is usually the minimum qualification for mapping to the UKSPEC.

However, the University recognizes that personal circumstances may change; as such, there is a possible exit route after one year’s successful completion of study for a PgCert in Systems Engineering.

General Eligibility

A first or second-class honors degree or equivalent in a science or engineering-related discipline. Alternatively, a lower qualification with relevant professional experience may be acceptable.

To study for a formal award with us, you must demonstrate that you can communicate effectively in English in an academic environment before starting the course.

Most applicants meet our English language requirements by obtaining a higher education qualification from a UK university.

Applicants without UK qualifications can usually meet the English requirement through employment in the UK (a minimum of 5 years continuous work immediately before the start of the course is required), providing you can supply a reference from your current employer which explicitly confirms you can communicate effectively in English.
