This four-year degree programme is designed for students who want to gain a deeper understanding of politics and its role in shaping society. The foundation year provides an introduction to key concepts and theories in political science, while the subsequent years allow students to specialise in areas such as international relations, political theory, or public policy. Students will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and expert teaching staff, and will gain valuable practical experience through internships and other opportunities.
Students on this course can also choose to study a year abroad as part of their degree, providing them with valuable international experience and a broader perspective on politics. Our course draws together existing teaching and research expertise on important issues surrounding the influence of power, governance, sovereignty, conflict, order, mediation, obligation, justice, accountability, legitimacy, security, and decision-making.
Our Politics (with Foundation Year) option is a four-year course with an integrated foundation year which leads to the same qualification as our three-year honours degree. It has been specifically designed for those wanting to undertake degree-level study but who may not meet the entry requirements or have traditional qualifications.
The Foundation Year (Year 0) offers you the chance to expand and strengthen your confidence, skills and knowledge – ensuring that you are well-prepared and qualified to progress into Year 1 of the undergraduate degree.

The 20 hours is total hours. It is not per job. If you hold multiple part-time jobs then the total hours of all the work you are doing added together.
Politics (with Foundation Year) BA (Hons) Modules
If you do not meet the English Language requirements to enter the International Incorporated Bachelors or the International Incorporated Masters, BUIC offers you a range of Pre-sessional English Programmes which you can take before you start these courses.
If you have an IELTS of 5.0 (with no component below 4.5), you will be offered a 6-week Pre-sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
If you have an IELTS of 4.5 (with no component below 4.0), you will be offered a 12-week Pre-Sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
