Learn about Brexit, the rise of Donald Trump, and the history of the political left and right on our BA History and Politics. You will explore how we structure our society and how history shapes our future. This course combines two subjects that work together and provides you with a broader knowledge of different periods of history while providing a deep understanding of political ideas, the institutions of our society, and the theories capable of explaining global relationships. Throughout this interdisciplinary degree, you will be exposed to key skills necessary to conduct research, analyze political issues, interpret the past, and gain employment in a relevant field. You will cover a broad range of topics from key political systems and events that have underpinned the modern era, to criminal justice and education. You will engage with the academic traditions in history and social science, and learn how to express opinions and arguments. You will explore major ethical dilemmas of politics, systems of power, the history of modern geopolitics, and the various disciplinary approaches to History and Politics. You'll get real-world experience, and work placement and internship opportunities, building the skills needed to open the door to many rewarding careers. We offer both work placements and study trips abroad as part of your degree.
