The BA (Hons) Linguistics degree at Bangor University is a comprehensive and challenging course that covers the full range of linguistic disciplines, from phonetics and phonology to syntax and semantics. Students will gain a deep understanding of language structure and use, as well as the cognitive and social processes underlying language use. The course also explores the historical and cultural contexts of language, and students will learn to analyze and interpret linguistic data from a variety of sources. With a strong focus on practical application, students will have opportunities to develop their skills in language documentation, analysis, and translation. Graduates of this program will be well-equipped to pursue careers in fields such as language teaching, translation, and speech therapy.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in language documentation fieldwork, where they will work with local communities to document and analyze endangered languages. They will also learn to use specialized software for linguistic analysis and work on collaborative projects with other students and faculty members.

The 20 hours is total hours. It is not per job. If you hold multiple part-time jobs then the total hours of all the work you are doing added together.
This Linguistics degree will be taught by a combination of lectures, tutorials and/or seminars, depending on the module and level. You will choose 120 credits of modules relating to Linguistics each year, where you start by learning the foundational knowledge required to study in this field in the different subdisciplines (Year 1), proceeding to more in-depth intermediate-level study (Year 2), before choosing what areas to specialize in (year 3). Modules are assessed on the basis of different kinds of coursework, including essays, reports, oral presentations, tests, exams, data analysis, etc. You will do a dissertation in your final year which represents an original research project which you will undertake under the supervision of a research-active member of staff.

If you do not meet the English Language requirements to enter the International Incorporated Bachelors or the International Incorporated Masters, BUIC offers you a range of Pre-sessional English Programmes which you can take before you start these courses.
If you have an IELTS of 5.0 (with no component below 4.5), you will be offered a 6-week Pre-sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
If you have an IELTS of 4.5 (with no component below 4.0), you will be offered a 12-week Pre-Sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
