Course Overview

The 1‑Year Chinese Language Program at Zhengzhou University supports learners from beginner to advanced levels, offering gradual development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students are placed in classes suited to their current Chinese ability, with structured lessons that build proficiency and confidence over four academic terms. Elective cultural modules like calligraphy and regional cultural experiences help participants connect language learning with cultural context. General Eligibility

Applicants must have completed high school or equivalent. Application requires:

• Completed application form

ZZU offers scholarship options for international students (e.g., Chinese Government Scholarship and university merit‑based awards), which may reduce or waive tuition and/or accommodation based on performance and eligibility.

Part Time Work Details

International students may work part‑time with university and local government permission; hours are limited during academic terms (typical Chinese university policy)

Language Requirement

• The Chinese language program is taught in Mandarin and does not require a high English score for admission, although basic English communication helps with day‑to‑day life. For reference in other Zhengzhou University programs (degree entry):

  • IELTS: 6.0 (guideline for non‑language degrees)

  • TOEFL iBT: 80 (guideline for non‑language degrees)
