People are at the center of documentary practice; their lived experiences form our understanding of stories and help us contextualize the world. This Documentary Photography and Film degree teaches you the fundamental principles and building blocks of documentary practice and prepares you for a career in the industry. You’ll develop your own creative voice across a diverse range of photographic and moving image contexts within the creative industries.
Working alongside committed and experienced staff, you’ll explore the historical and contemporary theory and the critical and ethical landscape of documentary practice in a local and global context. You’ll develop expertise as an agile, creative documentarian with a firm understanding of narrative and the ethics involved in producing a documentary piece.
With close ties to the industry, you’ll be taught by practicing documentarians on a diverse and exciting course that will build your skills and experience of working professionally. Our emphasis on professional development will equip you with knowledge of marketing and promotion, as well as advanced skills required in pitching for employment and commission.
