Course Overview

Our BA in Journalism and Sociology will enable you to learn about contemporary society, media, and digital society, alongside developing your journalistic skills, helping you to analyze information and understand it within the wider social context. In the digital society, where demand for news is at an all-time high, this course will give you a strong understanding of the world we live in and how to engage with the audience, allowing you to develop your own unique journalistic style.

You explore a wide spectrum of topics ranging from crime to digital society. This will be combined with the practical journalism component of the course; where you develop your skills in using multi-media channels such as radio, television, and online media and deepen your knowledge of journalism on an international scale.

General Eligibility

UK entry requirements

  • A-levels: ABB, including one essay-based subject

  • BTEC: DDD, depending on the subject studied - advice on acceptability can be provided.

  • IB: 32 points or three Higher Level certificates with 655, including a Higher Level essay-based subject grade 5.

  • We are also happy to consider a combination of separate IB Diploma Programmes at both Higher and Standard Levels. Exact offer levels will vary depending on the range of subjects being taken at higher and standard levels, and the course applied for. Please contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office for more information.

  • Access to HE Diploma: 15 level 3 credits at Distinction and 30 level 3 credits at Merit, depending on the subject studied - advice on acceptability can be provided.
