The childrens nurse specializes in caring for children, young people, and their families in a variety of settings, as part of an interprofessional approach to care. However as a nurse for the future, the NMC expects you to provide care for people from all fields of nursing, so we will enhance your knowledge and skills in relation to caring for adults (including older people), those with mental health conditions, and those with learning disabilities. The work of a childrens nurse can range from caring for a sick newborn baby or caring for a teenager with complex physical or psychological needs, to observing the development of a child or caring for a young person who has injured themselves.
