Course Overview

This exciting course combines exercise and wellness with management to provide you with a degree that will enable you to pursue a career in the health and fitness sector. You will have the opportunity to embrace the wider exercise and fitness industry by recognizing emerging and popular exercise trends alongside more traditional fitness activities. You will apply physiological, anatomical, and psychological knowledge in utilizing exercise to improve fitness, wellness, and health, and knowledge development to enable you to make considered and informed business and marketing decisions.

This degree is aimed at students who work or want to work in one of the many areas of the health and exercise science sector. It combines academic study with vocational experience and will provide knowledge, understanding, and skills in areas of business and management, anatomy and physiology, nutrition, fitness and exercise, coaching, and mentoring.

The National Employers Skills Survey estimated that 19% of all establishments in the active leisure, learning and well-being industry covered by the survey were facing vacancies, equating to some 7,000 vacant jobs. Seven percent of all establishments reported that they were facing hard-to-fill vacancies and 4% of establishments were facing a skill shortage vacancy. Skills shortages occur when businesses cannot recruit enough people who are appropriately qualified, skilled, or experienced. The level of vacancies is slightly higher in the active leisure, learning, and well-being sector.

General Eligibility

The course is aimed at people who have completed a Foundation Degree, DipHE, HND or hold an equivalent qualification in exercise wellness management or a related subject. This qualification must be a full level 4 and level 5 qualification (120 credits for each year of study).

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

  • The IELTS score for international applicants is 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each component).
