Course Overview

In today's world of multimedia communication and publishing, illustrators, and animators work together in a wide variety of contexts. Studying Animation and Illustration as joint honors is full of possibilities. Both courses will be mutually informative and could lead to an innovative, interdisciplinary final-year project that draws all your interests together. Both subject areas place emphasis on drawing as a tool for thinking and visualization. They nurture your creative development alongside building your craft and digital skills. These skills are highly prized throughout the fast-moving and dominant digital/visual culture of today's world.

Animators and illustrators are increasingly in demand as the media industries expand.

You will find career opportunities in animation production and in professional illustration fields including newspapers and magazines, books, advertising, exhibiting independent work, television, and the internet. All these fields are potential showcases for graduates' work.

Graduates will also find career opportunities in television motion graphics, graphic design, story writing, studio management, the games industry, compositing, special effects, and advertising.

In addition to developing your capabilities as an animator and illustrator, the course will enable you to develop a wide range of transferable skills, from research and analysis techniques to problem-solving, communication, and negotiation.

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

  • The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component

    Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) – 52 or above or CEFR B2 or above

    Cambridge First Certificate in English – Grade C or above with no skill less than D or 2

    Pearson Test of English (Academic) – An overall score of 59 or above, with not less than 51 points in any of the 4 skills (listening, reading, speaking, and writing).
