Course Overview

Throughout this course, youll explore a wide range of theories and topics relating to the psychology of child development. Well give you a thorough grounding in research methods and analytical skills so that youll gain the ability to carry out empirical research in this field. In addition, youll gain an in-depth understanding of the latest theories, interventions, and applications of psychology relevant to working with children and adolescents across a range of settings. Youll have access to extensive laboratory facilities. The School has developed two outstanding laboratory complexes in which you can develop a deeper understanding of the psychology of child development. The Child Observation Suite (COS) provides a facility for the observation, recording, coding, and understanding of childrens behavior. The Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience (DCN) lab enables a detailed examination of the brain and visual systems of young children and adolescents through a range of techniques, including eye-tracking and electroencephalography (EEG).

General Eligibility

Applicants should hold at least a 2:2 degree in a related subject including sufficient psychology content and research skills with a suitable dissertation or research project Satisfactory DBS check required
