Course Overview

The program blends online delivery with week-long, on-campus blocks, embedding learning with clinical and practical skills. You can see how the knowledge from the program can be applied in the real world within your workplace. On successful completion of this program, you may have the opportunity to transfer onto the Optometry program if you meet the requirements to a satisfactory standard.

General Eligibility

  • GCSE English, Science, Maths and two others at a minimum grade C/4 or equivalent + 1 year

  • Optical work experience Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Optical Retail Skills + 1 year Optical work experience + 5 GCSEs as above

  • SMCTech qualification + 5 GCSEs as above

  • BTEC: Considered as long as GCSE English, Science, Maths and two others at a minimum grade C/4 or equivalent + 1 year Optical work experience is met

  • Applicants for this course will be required to sit an entrance exam

  • A satisfactory Criminal records declaration (DBS/Disclosure Scotland) is required for this course

Part Time Work Details

20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.

  • IELTS: 6.0 with no component lower than 5.5
