BA (Hons) Creative and Professional Writing

This course is designed for students who want to develop their creative writing skills and explore the many forms of professional writing. You'll learn how to write compellingly across a range of genres, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama. Our experienced tutors will guide you through the craft of writing, helping you to hone your skills and produce high-quality work. As well as creative writing, you'll also learn about the practical applications of professional writing, such as copywriting, technical writing, and journalism. This course is ideal for students who are passionate about writing and want to pursue a career in this field.

The course aims to develop a range of skills that will prepare you for employment as a writer in a variety of fields: journalism, advertising, publishing, and marketing. However, the Creative and Professional Writing degree also opens up opportunities to work in a range of administrative or managerial settings, as well as in public sector roles such as teaching. For entrepreneurial students, we teach essential skills for working freelance or running a small business. This course also provides a great foundation for further study toward a professional qualification, for example in journalism, business, or marketing.
