After the course, you could progress to a graduate training scheme, go straight into employment in the private, public or voluntary sector, or continue your legal studies. If you choose a career in law, you can do the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or vocational stage of training for the bar, which are the traditional routes to becoming a barrister or solicitor. Take the CILEx Graduate Fast-track Diploma module in your final year. You can work as a legal executive or paralegal when you graduate and become a Chartered Legal Executive lawyer following three years of qualifying employment. This gives you similar career opportunities to barristers and solicitors.
With a Portsmouth law degree, you can change the world, fight for your beliefs, and make a difference in people's lives. This Bachelor of Laws (LLB) gives you a choice to go on to study for your solicitor exams or your Bar exams after you graduate.
If you take our Law in Practice module, you'll gain three months of work experience that can count towards your qualifying work experience for the new Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE). You'll also have the option of a paid work placement between years 2 and 3 that will increase your employability.
