Course Overview

Suppose you want to work with adults in a care or residential setting. You want to develop to a higher level to develop your career opportunities or progress to an undergraduate degree. In that case, the Foundation Degree in Health & Social Care will equip you with the knowledge, understanding, and practical skills to meet your personal and professional aspirations.

Students in this course will be taught to develop diverse students with the skills, knowledge, and insight to positively contribute to the care, well-being, development, and support of the individuals, families, and communities with whom they work.

For those working in the care sector, the course aims to develop existing practices by extending their underpinning knowledge and understanding of the industry through a detailed examination of associated theories and concepts.

Delivered at Grantham College, the course features a blend of classroom work-related learning. This approach embeds a mix of practice-based work, resulting in learning in the Health and Social Care setting alongside structured education at the institution.

General Eligibility

This is a professional development program for working Health and Social Care practitioners. Typical entry requirements - a minimum of one year’s practical experience (preferably two years) in an employed or voluntary capacity in a relevant, professional Health and Social Care setting, which can be verified with a reference from the employer/manager.

Typically, applicants hold a relevant Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification. However, other stuff will be considered, alongside the length of experience and the type of roles the applicant has held.

Applicants must have ongoing access to a voluntary or paid role in a relevant, professional Health and Social Care setting for at least 12 hours a week throughout the program. Applicants must produce written support from the Health and Social Care setting to join this program.

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
