This course will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of modern languages and English literature. You will learn to analyze literary texts, understand the cultural context in which they were written, and develop your language skills in French, German, or Spanish. Our teaching is informed by the latest research in the field, and you will have opportunities to engage with contemporary debates and issues through seminar discussions and independent projects. By the end of the course, you will be able to communicate fluently in one modern language and have a deep understanding of English literature and culture.

The 20 hours is total hours. It is not per job. If you hold multiple part-time jobs then the total hours of all the work you are doing added together.
For the Modern Languages element, you will have 3-4 hours of language classes per week plus classes in your Modern Languages optional modules. Tuition is mainly in small groups and there are few formal lectures. Assessment involves coursework and written and oral examinationsYour classes for English Literature will involve a mixture of lectures and seminars Many modules are taught solely through weekly seminars or tutorials, with the emphasis on small-group teaching. The dissertation is taught through one-to-one supervisions and lectures. Several modules include theatre trips, film showings, gallery visits and the chance to hear visiting writers. Assessment is increasingly by coursework.You will also complete a dissertation as part of your degree, and you will normally have approximately 10-12 hours of classes per week.

If you do not meet the English Language requirements to enter the International Incorporated Bachelors or the International Incorporated Masters, BUIC offers you a range of Pre-sessional English Programmes which you can take before you start these courses.
If you have an IELTS of 5.0 (with no component below 4.5), you will be offered a 6-week Pre-sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
If you have an IELTS of 4.5 (with no component below 4.0), you will be offered a 12-week Pre-Sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
