Course Overview

This exciting new programme combines the knowledge of design principles, ergonomics, engineering science and manufacturing processes to create multi-functional solutions and products.

A career in product design engineering or industrial design will mean you conduct necessary tests to determine whether a product meets all the customer requirements.

By the time you graduate, you will be able to merge your knowledge of engineering-reinforced design education and analytical skillset with a sound manufacturing base, enabling you to conceive and develop innovative designs and turn them into a manufacturing reality, innovative products and solutions, and profitable businesses.

The programme will also offer all students an optional placement year that will enable them to experience the natural world and effectively connect the knowledge gained at UEL.

General Eligibility

Accepted Qualifications

112 UCAS points from an equivalent Level 3 qualification listed on the UCAS tariff calculator, including:

• A Level in at least two subjects, including  Mathematics and Physics

• BTEC Extended Diploma – DMM in a relevant topic. Must consist of distinctions in both Mathematics and Further Mathematics 

• BTEC Diploma – D*D* in a relevant issue. Must consist of Distinctions in  Mathematics, Further Mathematics

• Access to HE Diploma in a relevant subject

• International Baccalaureate – 24 points, including a minimum of 15 points at a Higher Level, and must include Mathematics and Physics at Higher Level.

We also welcome applications from students taking Level 3 or higher qualifications not on the UCAS tariff calculator and will assess the suitability on a case-by-case basis.  

In addition to one of the above, you should have the following:                                                                       

• GCSE English Grade 4/C or Level 2 Functional Skills in English

• GCSE Mathematics Grade 4/C or Level 2 Functional Skills in Mathematics

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

• IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in Writing and Speaking; a minimum of 5.5 in Reading and Listening (or recognized equivalent).
