Course Overview

Studying the PGDE (Secondary) religious and moral education course is a rewarding and absorbing experience. UCAS does not distinguish between RME (Religious and Moral Education in the non-denominational sector) and RERC (religious education in Roman Catholic Schools). The School of Education at Strathclyde focuses on RME only.

General Eligibility

Degree requirements

An ordinary degree or international equivalent.

Degree must include:

  • 80 SCQF credits from at least two of the following subjects:

    • religious studies

    • philosophy

    • theology

    • divinity

    • sociology of religion

    • anthropology of religion

    • psychology of religion

Maths & English

  • Higher (SCQF Level 6) English Grade C or above

  • National 5 (SCQF Level 5) Mathematics Grade C or above

Maths and English qualifications can be in progress at the time of application.

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
