Our BSc Cyber Security course cultivates creative and professional cybersecurity graduates who can solve problems, and are knowledgeable, skilled, and ready for industry upon graduation. You will experience technical and non-technical cybersecurity disciplines, helping you identify your strengths and make informed decisions about future career pathways.
In your first year, you will learn about the anatomy of computing devices, how they process data, how data is stored, and how to write software. You will also learn the foundations of how to secure computing devices and how to investigate and recover data forensically.
In your second and third years, you will have the opportunity to enhance your programming and digital forensics skills further and conduct live network forensics. You will also learn about cyber law, risk, governance, secure cloud computing, network security, and ethical hacking.
Between Year 2 and Year 3, you can undertake an industrial placement year, allowing you to gain valuable work experience relevant to your career aspirations.
We deliver all computing programs in an active blended learning style, with most lectures replaced by workshops and seminars. Our approach provides a learning environment focused on collaborative working in practical lab spaces, immersed in an environment based on working in the IT industry.
We have aligned BSc Cyber Security with industrial programs and associated certification opportunities (e.g., AWS, Splunk). Students may work towards industry-recognized certifications at an appropriate time during their degree program, allowing them to distinguish themselves professionally early in their future careers.
