This major allows student to learn to use computer-based technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), the Global Positioning System (GPS), and satellite Remote Sensing (RS) to influence decision making in business, science, and government. A spatial sciences graduate will possess an advanced knowledge of these technologies, experience in interpretation of aerial photographs and processing of satellite images, as well as a broad understanding of computer applications and database management. Graduates are capable of working as environmental and natural resource managers and possess the necessary skills to map geographical features, patterns, and changes. Furthermore, these individuals will be able to lead and conduct modern environmental management activities.This program is jointly administered between the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Geosciences.
Undergraduate students who meet the following general admission requirements at the time of application are assured admission to A&M-Central Texas:
Minimum 2.0 cumulative transfer GPA on a 4.0 scale;
Minimum 30 academic, college-level transferable semester hours. Applicants pursuing an Applied Science or Aviation Science degree may meet this requirement utilizing select workforce education credit from an approved Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree upon completion of 45 hours, to include all general education courses within the AAS.
