Course Overview

Why choose Pre-Athletic Training?

Elmira College’s Pre-Athletic Training minor is excellent preparation for allied health professions and can be utilized by anyone with an interest in health and wellness. Courses in exercise physiology, kinesiology and movement of the human body, nutrition, and care and prevention of athletic injuries will give you practice using problem-solving skills to be ready for practical and clinical applications. You will be able to complete the required 50 internship hours working directly with athletic trainers and our Elmira College athletics teams.

What Pre-Athletic Training Will Teach You

Within our Pre-Athletic Training program, you will examine an overview of the sciences and an in-depth look into health and wellness. There is a particular focus on musculoskeletal medicine, exercise, and nutrition. You will be eligible to attend a CAATE-accredited program to earn your MS degree in Athletic Training using your training in these essential prerequisite areas.

General Eligibility

Our coursework will prepare you for a variety of health-related fields. Learn about the human body and how to care for injuries as you develop problem-solving skills needed in practical and clinical settings.
