The university was established in 1980, originally as the “Hangzhou Industrial School Attached to Zhejiang University”. Over the years it has grown into a full-time regular public institution under the Zhejiang Provincial Government. It became a pilot institution for Sino-German cooperation in applied talent training and was selected for the “Excellent Engineers Education and Training Plan” by China’s Ministry of Education. ZUST now offers many undergraduate and postgraduate programs, has received provincial key discipline status and has won state-level awards in research and innovation.
