The University of New Brunswick’s Centre for Advanced Studies–Atlantic (CAS–Atlantic) researches to advance the performance and concurrency of software executing on multicore systems. Innovations are explored in the context of real-world applications through our industry partnerships with large and small companies. Working in collaborative research relationships with commercial partners, valuable insights are discovered that might not be encountered in the university classroom environment alone. Located on the UNB Fredericton campus, CAS–Atlantic began in 2011 with a mandate of promoting and cultivating collaborative research between IBM and their business partners with the University of New Brunswick. In partnership with IBM business units dedicated to research, development, and services, CAS–Atlantic provided (and continues to provide) UNB with a window that spans a relevant cross-section of the corporation. Similar relationships have now been established with additional partners.
