In 1949, it became Eastern Montana College of Education, and by 1965, it was renamed Eastern Montana College. In 1994, the university merged into the Montana University System and adopted its current name. Over the years, MSU Billings has expanded its academic offerings, now encompassing over 100 programs across five colleges: Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, Business, Health Professions and Science, Education, and City College. The university has a rich history of growth, including surpassing 3,000 students in 1967 and establishing the College of Liberal Arts in the same year. By the early 1970s, enrollment exceeded 4,000 students. In 1979, the College of Business was approved, and in 2004, the College of Health Professions and Science was launched.
