This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of computer information systems. Students will learn how to design, develop, and manage complex IT systems, as well as understand the ethical and social implications of these systems. The course covers a range of topics including programming, databases, networks, and security, and provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career in this field.
This course is ideal for students who are interested in pursuing a career in computer information systems, or who want to learn more about the technologies that underpin modern society. This degree explores the application of technology in business and industry. We will provide a grounding in computing, the construction and use of database systems, new technologies, systems administration, artificial intelligence and business information systems. You will understand the fundamentals underpinning computer information systems and will apply them to society and business. Through theory and hands-on practice, you will learn to leverage technology in a business setting, giving you the competitive edge. Crucially you will understand the drivers for the future trends in this fast-moving area.
After graduating you will be equipped to manage and develop computational technology systems for a broad range of user’s needs. This course will also prepare you for the workplace by teaching a range of professional skills, including communication, teamwork, time-management and independent learning alongside an awareness of relevant legal, social and ethical issues.

The 20 hours is total hours. It is not per job. If you hold multiple part-time jobs then the total hours of all the work you are doing added together.
You will spend about 12 hours in lectures and 8 in laboratories each week. You will also have tutorials in to work on software design, technical skills and complete various problem-solving assignments. You will have an opportunity to undertake individual and team projects, including the Industry led development team project in year 2. Project work will allow you to develop your creative design and technical skills as well as apply the theoretical principles you have learned. Modules are assessed by examinations, continuous assessment or a combination.

If you do not meet the English Language requirements to enter the International Incorporated Bachelors or the International Incorporated Masters, BUIC offers you a range of Pre-sessional English Programmes which you can take before you start these courses.
If you have an IELTS of 5.0 (with no component below 4.5), you will be offered a 6-week Pre-sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
If you have an IELTS of 4.5 (with no component below 4.0), you will be offered a 12-week Pre-Sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
