Course Overview

You will be taught to question and critically evaluate practice and, in doing so, place women and families at the center of care. You will be the lead professional and an expert in low-risk midwifery care. Providing care for women during one of the most significant periods in their life, as they become a family.

The course is equally divided between University and the practice setting. During your practice placements, you will be supported and assessed by midwives, who will guide your learning and development.

The course provides you with the knowledge and skills to be eligible to apply to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Following the successful completion of your studies there are lots of opportunities for you to develop your midwifery career. These include becoming a specialist midwife who cares for women with complex medical and social circumstances for example: diabetic specialist midwife, bereavement specialist midwife or supporting women with mental health concerns.

There are also opportunities to study further for a Master's or Ph.D., become a research midwife, or work abroad in cultures as diverse as Australia, Africa, or Europe.

Combinations A combination of qualifications totaling 120-128 UCAS points

You will also need GCSE Grade C (now grade 4), or above, in English Language, Science & Maths. Functional Skills level 2 accepted.

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

• IELTS 6.5 or equivalency – with no less than 5.5 in any element.
