This course will provide you with academic knowledge, practical skills, and professional experience in preparation for a future in the English language teaching, media, or publishing sector. It will provide the tools and resources to reflect upon your professional practice, conduct your research or continue with further studies in linguistics.

This course has modules relating to the use of the English language and teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL), which will help you to become qualified with a specialist subject expertise in the English language and an internationally recognized teaching qualification.

Completing the course gives you a qualification that will allow you to apply for positions as an English Language teacher in the UK and abroad. However, you will also benefit from a thorough exploration of the English language, developing skills in critical thinking, written and spoken communication skills, and teaching practice.

You will be taught by staff with many years of experience in English, English language teaching, and teacher training. In addition, there are opportunities to teach English throughout your study to gain authentic experience teaching English learners.

You will develop transferable skills like communication, research, time management, teamwork, and problem-solving. These skills can lead to publishing, teaching, advertising, and marketing work.

General Eligibility

You will generally need 96-112 UCAS tariff points (from a maximum of four Advanced Level qualifications). We welcome a range of capabilities that meet this requirement, such as A/AS Levels, BTEC, Access Courses, International Baccalaureate (IB), Cambridge Pre-U, Extended Project, etc.

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
