Course Overview
The B.S. in Data Science was added to the SLU-Madrid degree list in 2025. Its 120-credit structure brings computer science, mathematics, statistics and practical data work into one undergraduate programme. Students study programming, databases, machine learning, statistics and data analysis before moving into advanced electives and project work.
Students complete two data science practicums and a two-part capstone project. The elective list gives students the option to study areas such as artificial intelligence, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, distributed computing and time series. Research and internship opportunities can give students experience with real data and projects.
The degree can prepare graduates for roles related to data analysis, machine learning, statistics, technology, research, consulting, finance, healthcare, government and other sectors that use data. Its American university structure in Madrid gives students access to an international academic setting in Spain.
General Eligibility
Applicants for the B.S. in Data Science must meet Saint Louis University's undergraduate admission requirements. First-year applicants should be graduating from an accredited high school or have an acceptable GED or HiSET qualification. International applicants must provide English-language proficiency and academic records with English translations where required.
Transfer applicants can receive credit for eligible previous coursework. SLU-Madrid states that transfer students who have completed 24 or more semester credits must submit transcripts from all colleges previously attended.
Application Process
- Complete the SLU-Madrid undergraduate application.
- Submit academic records and required admission documents.
- Provide English-language test results if required.
- Submit any required supporting documents or transcripts.
- Wait for the admission decision.
- After admission, complete pre-registration requirements and arrange tuition, visa and housing where applicable.
The published application deadlines for the programme include April 1 for Fall admission and August 1 for Spring admission, with different deadlines for EU applicants. Summer admission has separate deadlines for students who require a visa and those who do not.
Scholarships and Financial Support
SLU-Madrid offers university-funded scholarships and financial aid to eligible students from different countries. Merit scholarships are assessed during the admission process, so there is generally no separate merit scholarship application.
Available support includes:
- Universitas Scholarship: €8,000 per academic year for eligible students.
- Rector's Scholarship: Available to selected first-year applicants meeting the published academic requirements.
- Departmental Support Scholarships: Tuition discounts linked to administrative work in university departments.
- Need-based financial assistance: Available alongside eligible merit awards.
- Outside funding: Students may combine certain university scholarships with eligible external funding.

Language Requirement
International applicants must demonstrate English proficiency unless they meet one of SLU-Madrid's approved exemptions. The university accepts several English tests.

SLU-Madrid recommends TOEFL for applicants who need to prove English proficiency. Students who meet the admission-level score but do not meet the ENGL 1500 placement level may be placed in a one-semester Bridge Program.
