Language is central to all human activity, from important negotiations between nation-states to doctor-patient interaction to spontaneous conversations in cafés. Through your study of language, you come to understand the nature of human social life.
Foundational modules in the first and second years will teach you how to analyze linguistic sound systems, word structure, sentence structure, meaning, and language use, and apply your knowledge to the analysis of English.

GCSEs: Linguistics with Data Science requires GCSE Maths grade C/4
IB: 32 points or three Higher Level certificates with 655 (Linguistics with Data Science also requires Standard Level Mathematics grade 4). We will accept grade 4 in either Standard Level Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches or Standard Level Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation.
We are also happy to consider a combination of separate IB Diploma Programmes at both Higher and Standard Levels. Exact offer levels will vary depending on the range of subjects being taken at higher and standard levels, and the course applied for. Access to HE Diploma:15 Level 3 credits at Distinction and 30 level 3 credits at Merit, depending on the subject studied - advice on acceptability can be provided.

If you do not require a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK then we will assess your English language proficiency/ability at your interview or audition.
If your first language is not English and you are an international student that requires a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK then you will need IELTS 6.0 overall, with 5.5 in each component.
