Course Overview

The one‑year Chinese language program at BHU helps students build skills in spoken and written Mandarin. It supports development from foundational language levels to higher competence suitable for university study or work in China. The structured courses include listening, speaking, reading, and writing, along with elective cultural elements that help link language study to real‑life use. Small‑class teaching and guided practice give learners focused attention and opportunities to practice Mandarin daily. Preparation for HSK exams occurs within the curriculum, helping students demonstrate language achievement for further education or employment. Participation in cultural activities, exchange events, and peer groups from different countries supports intercultural communication and broadens global perspectives. General Eligibility

Applicants must hold a secondary school certificate or equivalent and be physically and mentally fit to study in China. Required documents include:

• Valid passport copy

• Completed application form

• Recent photo

• Academic certificates and transcripts

• Proof of language background (if required)

BHU and other Chinese universities may offer scholarships such as university awards or Confucius Institute/Chinese Government Scholarship for language study, subject to eligibility criteria such as HSK scores and application assessment.

Part Time Work Details

International students may work part‑time with university and local approval; limited hours during semesters (standard Chinese university policy)

Language Requirement

• This program is taught in Mandarin. For administrative purposes, basic English communication may be helpful but is not required for admission into the Chinese language course itself. For general degree programs at BHU, universities typically accept:

  • IELTS: 6.0 (guideline for English communication)

  • TOEFL iBT: 80

  • PTE Academic: 50

  • Duolingo English Test: 95
