Course Overview

The 1‑year Chinese Language Program at NUIST serves as a solid foundation for learners who want practical command of Mandarin in academic, professional, or daily contexts. The program is structured around communication skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—with a progression through beginner to advanced levels. Students practice through small‑group activities, classroom exercises, and real‑life language tasks. General Eligibility

Applicants should hold a high school diploma or equivalent and be in good physical and mental health. International students apply through NUIST’s International Education Office with:

Part Time Work Details

International students may work part‑time with university/local approval; limited weekly hours during semesters

Language Requirement

• This program is designed for learners of Chinese. English proficiency supports daily life but is not the focus of Chinese classes:

  • IELTS: 5.5 or higher, or equivalent (recommended for program admission articles)
  • TOEFL iBT: 70 or higher (as a guideline for English medium administrative communication)
  • PTE Academic: 50 or higher (indicative, check with admissions)
  • Duolingo English Test: 90 or higher (indicative)
