Course Overview
The BSc (Hons) Data Science and Artificial Intelligence programme at UWS London provides access to state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and technologies.
The programme is interdisciplinary combining core elements of computer science, mathematics, statistics, and domain-specific knowledge to equip students with essential skills in analysing, interpreting, and leveraging data. The programme emphasises the use of advanced technologies like machine learning, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence to solve complex, real-world problems across various industries. Students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, enabling them to extract meaningful insights from data and develop intelligent, data-driven solutions.
Students use specialist computing labs equipped with high-performance machines, cloud computing platforms, and AI and data science software such as Python, R, TensorFlow, and SQL databases. They also have access to big data processing tools, virtualised environments, and cloud-based resources for real-world simulations. The programme supports learning through dedicated DevOps labs, data engineering platforms, and AI-driven applications, ensuring students develop practical expertise in modern data science and artificial intelligence technologies.

Year 1:
- A Levels: CCD (88 UCAS Tariff Points) including Maths or Computing
- International Baccalaureate: 24 points including Maths or Computing
Year 2:
- HNC: Appropriate Subject with B in Graded Unit
Year 3:
- HNC: Appropriate Subject with B in Graded Unit
Part Time Work Details
International students may work up to 20 hours per week during term and full time in breaks (subject to visa conditions)
Language Requirement
For applicants whose first language is not English, the University sets a minimum English language proficiency level. The qualifications below must have been gained within two years of the start of your course.
General English language requirements at UWS: International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic module (not General Training):
- Overall score 6.0
- No sub-test less than 5.5
- Common equivalent English language qualifications
All stated English tests are acceptable for admission for both home/EU and international students for this programme:
- CAE (Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English): 176 overall; no sub-test less than 169
- CPE (Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English): 176 overall; no sub-test less than 169
- Trinity College London Integrated Skills in English: ISEII with the minimum of a Pass in all sub-tests
- PTE Pearson Academic English: An overall score of 59 to 64 with no element below 59 (for programmes that require
- ibTOEFL: 78; no sub-test less than 17: Reading: 17; Listening: 17; Speaking: 17; Writing: 17
Skills for English (SELT): Overall 6, minimum 5.5 in all skills.
For applicants of some countries who do not meet the minimum English language requirements above, there is an option to apply for the pre-sessional English language programme combined with chosen degree programme.
