BS Geology

Course Overview

Delve into the very origins of the Earth itself. Explore processes that shape the Earth and other terrestrial planets from the time of the origin of the solar system to the present day. At UMass Amherst, the undergraduate geology program offers several tracks depending on the student’s personal and professional goals. The BA program offers flexibility while the BS concentrations in geology or earth science allow students to choose between careers in geology or education. Every track prepares students for continuing education at the graduate level or for careers as educators, as scientists working within private industries such as engineering geology and hydrogeology, and within government agencies and academia.
