This course will provide you with a deep understanding of sociology and social policy, equipping you with the skills and knowledge to analyse complex social issues and develop effective solutions. You will learn about the interplay between individuals, groups, and institutions in shaping society, as well as the impact of social policies on different communities. The course is taught through a mix of lectures, seminars, and workshops, with opportunities for practical experience and project-based learning.
This course is taught in Welsh and English, and students will have the opportunity to learn about sociology and social policy from a Welsh perspective. The course also offers a range of elective modules, allowing students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. Graduates of this course have gone on to pursue careers in social research, policy analysis, and community work.

The BA. Honors in Sociology and Social Policy is completely unique to Wales. Bangor is the only University in Wales where you can study social sciences through the medium of Welsh. Studying Sociology with Social Policy as a degree is a popular combination among students. By studying Sociology with Social Policy you will have the opportunity to understand and discuss how society works, how and why people behave as they are, and explore theories and research used to devise, implement and evaluate policies to deal with profound social problems. To meet different interests, the degree program has been developed to provide students with an understanding of social issues as well as the development of core and transferable skills and abilities.

The 20 hours is total hours. It is not per job. If you hold multiple part-time jobs then the total hours of all the work you are doing added together.
Some modules include and maintain traditional forms of assessment, such as exams and assignments with a 50% / 50% weighting, while others use a wide range of methods such as portfolio, work placement, oral presentations, class tests, research projects and dissertation. All our modules are 20 credits which means that a combination of assessment methods is used. As well as delivering traditional lectures we also make extensive use of digital learning recordings available through Blackboard as an additional resource to support your development.

If you do not meet the English Language requirements to enter the International Incorporated Bachelors or the International Incorporated Masters, BUIC offers you a range of Pre-sessional English Programmes which you can take before you start these courses.
If you have an IELTS of 5.0 (with no component below 4.5), you will be offered a 6-week Pre-sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
If you have an IELTS of 4.5 (with no component below 4.0), you will be offered a 12-week Pre-Sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
