Course Overview
The Mechanical Engineering B.S. at SLU-Madrid gives students a four-year academic route covering engineering science, mechanical design, manufacturing, thermal systems, fluids, materials and robotics. The program combines classroom study with laboratory work, design projects, research opportunities and internships. Students can study in Madrid and have opportunities for study abroad or transfer between the Madrid and St. Louis campuses.
The program's ABET accreditation gives the degree a recognised engineering quality standard. Its curriculum supports career preparation in product development, mechanical design, manufacturing and related engineering areas. Students can choose approved technical electives and may complete an approved internship, project or research activity. The degree can lead to graduate study in engineering or related fields.
General Eligibility
Applicants for the bachelor's degree should meet the general undergraduate admission requirements of Saint Louis University-Madrid. First-year applicants should have completed or be completing secondary education and submit their academic records. The application can be made through the SLU-Madrid application portal or Common Application. A personal essay of about 500 words and official high-school transcripts are required. International applicants must provide proof of English proficiency when an exemption does not apply.
SAT and ACT scores are optional for students studying in the U.S. education system. Applicants may submit recommendation letters, a CV/resume and an admission interview as additional supporting materials. International academic records may require English translations and, where applicable, a course-by-course credential evaluation.
Part Time Work Details
International students holding the Spanish higher-education study authorisation can work up to 30 hours per week, provided the work is compatible with their studies.
