Course Overview
The Interior Design MA Including Professional Placement offers a combination of advanced design education and industry experience. Students study contemporary interior design practice through research, studio projects, workshops, and design investigations. The programme examines social, cultural, environmental, and technological influences that shape interior spaces.
A major advantage of the course is the professional placement year. This period allows students to apply classroom learning within a professional workplace, build industry contacts, strengthen portfolios, and develop workplace skills valued by employers. The placement forms an assessed part of the degree and contributes to career preparation.
Students gain access to Kingston School of Art's specialist workshops, digital facilities, galleries, and creative studios. The programme supports practical design development, research skills, presentation techniques, project management, and professional communication. Graduates leave with a strong portfolio and experience suited to interior design studios, architectural practices, exhibition design companies, spatial design consultancies, retail design firms, and related creative industries.
