Computer software is all around us. From commercial activities like shopping on Amazon through to government departments, from manufacturing processes, to environmental, and personal use, it plays a part in so many industries and activities, where a small change could make a huge difference to society. This STEM course aims to give you an understanding of whats possible, and where your skills could take you, as well as guiding you in developing hands-on, practical skills and understanding the human and social contexts of software systems. Software engineering is all about finding practical solutions to real problems. To succeed, employers will want you to be able to produce software that is robust, sustainable, reliable, and attractive to use €“ all at a reasonable cost and to a certain timeframe. This course has been designed to provide you with a deeper, specialist knowledge of software engineering than the BSc(Hons) version of the course. Youll study for an extra year with the aim of gaining an MEng qualification. Your extra year of study gives you opportunities for project work and developing pieces of working software, designed to prepare you for a lasting and rewarding career in software development.
An Honours degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant subject Or an academic reference indicating you are expected to obtain an Honours degree (2:1 or above) GCSE English Language and Maths (or equivalent) at grade 4 or above, or grade C or above if awarded under the previous GCSE grading scheme You also need a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance prior to registration
20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.
The minimum for IELTS is 6.5 overall with no element lower than 6.0, or equivalent will be considered acceptable.
