If you have studied Mechanical Engineering for at least two years at university or higher education level, this is a one-year course that helps you to build on your knowledge and skills to gain a degree. Unlike our other Mechanical Engineering courses, the Top-Up route is not directly accredited by the IMechE, though graduates may subsequently apply for professional registration with them. Mechanical engineers play a vital role in our everyday lives. They design, manufacture, and operate a wide range of products and processes, including: High-performance cars Lifesaving medical equipment Railways Green technologies So much of our world is dependent on the skills of mechanical engineers. This one-year top-up course aims to give you the knowledge and skills you need to take the next step in your mechanical engineering career. Well give you the chance to understand how mechanical engineering contributes to the design and operation of power stations, in making the best use of our remaining fossil fuels, in the bio-medical industry, in rail transportation, and in the manufacturing sector, whilst always looking at the impact on our environment. Youll also explore the important role of business and financial management within the sector.
Entry requirements for this course are considered on an individual basis and are normally one of the following:
Higher National Diploma at Merit in Mechanical Engineering
Foundation Degree in Engineering
International qualifications are accepted, with high technical engineering content
20 Hours of Work permit weekly for international students.
The minimum for IELTS is 6.0 overall with no element lower than 5.5, or equivalent.
