Course Overview

If you dream of pursuing a career relating to drama and theatre, the BA (Hons) Drama and Production is ideal. With a focus on devising, production and entrepreneurship skills, you will be trained to be performers, practitioners, producers and researchers. The degree also offers progression into wider study and career pathways relating to health and well-being (drama therapy), education (PGDE with drama) and arts administration.

The course combines theoretical, practical and performance-based approaches, along with a programme of master classes, workshops and performances delivered by professionals working within the industry. You will be encouraged to develop your professional network and will benefit from the programme’s connections with theatre practitioners and arts centres in the region. This will give you fantastic access to a variety of placements and performance opportunities, as well as support you beyond the course and onwards onto your chosen path.

The programme facilitates in-house, extra-curricular productions as well as organising visiting productions, allowing you to develop considerable performance production skills and giving you valuable experience to ensure you are industry-ready. These experiences greatly enhance learning and teaching across the degree, allowing you to make connections with the local and wider performance communities.

General Eligibility

  • 120 credits at SCQF level 7 in a relevant drama/theatre studies degree PLUS 120 credits at SCQF level 8 in a relevant drama/theatre studies degree OR

  • 30 credit HND Acting and performance/Musical theatre (30 credits, and a B or above in the graded unit)

Part Time Work Details

20 hours work permit for international students

Language Requirement

    • Applicants must have an IELTS score- 6.0 or equivalent

    • English (PTE) Academic-58 average with 51 in each component

    • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) iBT4-Min 80 or above with min 18 in each section
