BA (Hons) Fine Art and Graphic Design

... United Kingdom
... University of Chester

Course Overview

The diverse and exciting nature of contemporary Fine Art is represented in the design and delivery of the course within a supportive and creative environment. The emphasis of the program is on practice, (in the region of 75%), underpinned by a strong art historical and theoretical element placing your work and thinking within a contemporary context.

Opportunities for external placements, live projects, and elements of professional practice provide the course with a ‘real-life’ edge, affording you to consider the nature of the visual creative you could become, and equally how your undergraduate experience might inform and support future employment and postgraduate opportunities. You will have access to well-equipped workshops for drawing and painting, video editing and photographic production, sculptural fabrication and construction, textiles manipulation and construction, printmaking, casting, and foundry operation. At level 4 you will gain vital conceptual and practical skills through workshop-based projects and at levels 5 and 6 have your own studio space in which to develop your practice.

There is regular tutorial and teaching contact with academic staff many of whom are practitioners and researchers of national and international standing, bringing an informed, current, and diverse approach to your undergraduate Fine Art experience.
