Course Overview

We will encourage you to think critically about the various ways in which historians have researched and analyzed the development of key themes in the history of the nation. From the medieval period to the present day, the topics chart the creation of a nation. You will develop your research skills and gain a critical understanding of the major debates in Scottish history and historiography. As part of this course, you will research and write a dissertation on a topic of your own interest. You will receive a lot of online content right from the start and learn from subject experts from both within and out-with the History department at the University of Dundee. You will also benefit from our flexible teaching model that allows students to take semesters off.

General Eligibility

Students will normally be expected to have a 2:1 honors degree in History or a related discipline. Applicants with alternative qualifications and/or relevant experience may also be considered.
