Course Overview

Run in collaboration with Dundee & Angus College, where in year 1 you will undertake the HNC in Applied Sciences, this course gives you the opportunity to secure an advanced level 2 entry place at the University of Dundee following successful completion of the initial collaborative year with Dundee & Angus College. You'll learn the core skills in chemistry, biology, lab skills, and numeracy that youll need to succeed throughout your degree. Youll start by taking an HNC at Dundee and Angus College to learn about the basics of biology and gain knowledge and practical skills to help you move on to one of our life sciences courses. If you successfully complete the HNC, you can enter one of our degrees from Level 2 and choose which of our biological or biomedical sciences courses youd like to graduate in. Once youve completed this course and move into Level 2 of our life sciences curriculum, youll cover important topics in biology like genetics, cell biology, biological organization, molecular mechanisms, and processes. Youll further develop practical skills, including laboratory skills, data analysis, and how to design and run experiments. This will prepare you for carrying out projects later in your course.

General Eligibility

At least 2 SQA passes at a Higher level, one of which should be Higher Biology or Chemistry.
