The aim of the professional pathway in psychotherapy at Newman is to facilitate student’s academic and practical professional development as part of the requirements for professional registration in psychotherapy, in order to be able to practice as Psychotherapists in a range of public, private, and voluntary sector contexts nationally. Building upon the MSc Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy Studies, the Advanced Diploma aims to enable students to work with the depth and complexity needed for achieving the status of UKCP registered psychotherapist. The Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy Studies (and associated Certificate in Professional Practice, which is mandatory for Advanced Diploma students) offers 1 year of professional study psychotherapy which, combined with the MSc Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy studies, meets the taught component requirements for professional registration with UKCP in psychotherapy.
Please note that this qualification is only available to students who have completed the MSc Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy Studies degree at Newman University.
Upon successful completion of the MSc, students will be able to progress on to the Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy Studies. Students wishing to progress must fill out a direct application form – the link can be found on the MSc Moodle pages.
20 hours per week.
The University is not licensed by the UK Government to sponsor migrant students under the Student route and is therefore unable to accept applications from international students at present.
