As well as developing your knowledge of child and adolescent mental health, our postgraduate course will enhance your critical and analytic thinking skills. Well encourage you to reflect on theoretical perspectives relating to child and adolescent mental wellbeing. Mental health disorders can occur from early childhood and the prevalence increases with age, highlighting the importance of early intervention to prevent the development of long-term or serious mental health problems. According to the Mental Health Foundation, one in eight children and young people aged 5 -19 have a least one mental disorder. This has a huge impact on these individuals but also their families and the wider community. Whatever your reason for wanting to develop your understanding of child and adolescent mental wellbeing our Masters's degree will give you the specialist knowledge to realize your ambitions. Youll cover a range of aspects influencing child and adolescent mental health from psyche development, emotional wellbeing, coping mechanisms, social communication, learning disabilities, and family dynamics. Youll also explore interventions and treatments relevant to mental health issues in children.
Candidates will normally be expected to hold a degree. Usually, this will be a minimum of lower second-class honors. Holders of other awards, including those from non-UK universities will be considered on the equivalence of their qualifications. Candidates will be expected to have an interest in child and adolescent mental well-being.
