This MA in English Literature with Professional Writing will interest recent graduates and those wishing to return to higher education. Our programme is a wide-ranging one. The English Literature curriculum includes authors and texts across different historical periods and various forms and genres. It offers a unique opportunity to develop archival research and book history expertise. Also, it examines the relationship between texts and place, with a particular emphasis on Merseyside, Lancashire and Yorkshire. The Professional Writing pathway allows students to develop skills needed to use the written word in various professional contexts, such as journalism, marketing and advertising. It focuses on developing writing for publication in multiple formats while also analysing broader personal, social and ethical questions around writing effectively and responsibly in a fast-moving, global professional environment.

General Eligibility

Usually, a First Class or Upper Second Class Honours Degree in English Literature or another relevant discipline (which might, for example, include Media, Creative Writing or English Language).

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
